This is a jazz group that respects form and lives by its own. It also asks questions. The news hook with Mr. Iyer’s albums is always his advocacy for a wide repertory canon, and “Accelerando” (Act) covers Ellington, Henry Threadgill, Michael Jackson and Flying Lotus. But in the best bands repertory is beside the point. Here the rhythmic feast is the point.
