Out of the Ashes is the most comprehensive defense of Pinochet; it has useful material but overall it is not to be trusted. Google yields up many more critiques than defenses.James R. He is also known as the author of several books, most of them on the recent political history of Latin America. He lived in Chile, serving as visiting professor at the University of Chile and writing on the nation's history.
